In June 2005, PETA representatives Adria Hinkle and Andrew Cook were arrested for dumping bags of dead dogs and cats into a North Carolina grocery store’s dumpster. Police witnessed the act. After authorities apprehended the pair, the alleged perps admitted euthanizing the animals in the back of the van they drove at the time they were apprehended. Additional bags of animal carcasses were discovered in the van at the time of their arrest.
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) allegedly represents a world wide animal activist group that advertises they uphold the, “… rights of animals not to be used for fur, food, or even entertainment.”
After the Winton, North Carolina trial, that apparently doesn’t include protecting these creatures’ lives.
A two week trial recently concluded in Winton saw a jury absolve Hinkle and Cook of mistreating the euthanized animals. (They didn’t torture them. They just killed them.) However, the court fined them for littering! For the latter, their van was confiscated, the two perps received ten-day suspended jail sentences, they were each charged $4000 in fines and restitution and each must serve 50-hours of community service.
During jury selection before the trial took place, the judge disqualified prospective jurors in the selection process if they had hunted or were farmers. PETA breathed a deep sigh of relief at the conclusion of the trial for dodging a conviction on animal cruelty. PETA spokesperson Kathy Guillermo stated, “We’re relieved. We’re happy.”
However, the pets that North Carolina veterinarians entrusted to PETA reps Hinkle and Cook to take to no-kill centers, were still dead. The question remains unanswered if the latter is also what Ms. Guillermo was happy about as well.
Andrea Press, Responsible Dog Owners of Eastern States , representative stated at the end of the trial, “It’s a disgrace. PETA preaches not to hurt and kill animals. But, they just proved its OK for them to do it. They are hypocrites.”
More recently, this outdoor blog’s fishing articles were burdened with a negative PETA Google ad that was intentionally designed by PETA to link to cyber-space outdoor information and attempt to embarrass outdoor oriented web sites by attaching ill-stated and totally unsupported negativism to legitimate and informative material. The ad stated that, “… fishing hurts.” It compared hooking a fish to hooking a pet dog and then dragging it home to eat it. The ad depicted, in full color art, a beagle hooked in the side of the mouth with a Dare-devil type fishing spoon (lure) and in obvious pain.
PETA didn’t bother to show or demonstrate to viewers what that cuddly beagle would do to an even more cuddly bunny if it could disengage PETA’s staged lure long enough to sink its fangs into the prey that the beagle’s Creator wired it to chase.
But, in lieu of PETA’s North Carolina euthanization demonstration of their ultimate hypocrisy, we now know what can happen if that beagle of theirs should get lucky and succeed at what its Creator genetically wired it to do - kill a rabbit. If that happens, PETA has demonstrated the potential to send in Hinkle and Cook’s replacements to euthanize the poor hound for achieving its purpose in life, stuff its carcass in a disposable body bag and trash it in the nearest accessible dumpster.
Blogs such as this one depend for income on fees generated by Google ads. When viewers shop personal preferences through those ads, the blogs share the ad-revenue generated by a surfer’s shopping clicks. Creators of the blog, the ones writing the information, furnishing the photography, paying exorbitant depreciation on all the high-tech equipment necessary to bring the blog’s information to the public, completely entrust the advertising end of the partnership to Google. However, we have no control over what ads are displayed other than Google’s partnered blog-sites are permitted to block a limited number of ads deemed inappropriate to a site.
Google sells millions of ads worldwide. At this point we are not sure what they can do to police such terrorism from their overwhelming global ad program - for terrorism IS what PETA often practices. They have been convicted of blowing up legitimate labs, convicted of interfering with legitimate Federal and state hunting and fishing activities participated in by tax paying citizens (the latter exercising their right to freedoms guaranteed by this nation’s Constitution), and a wide range of various and similar terrorist actions allegedly committed while “protecting animal rights.” Conversely, certain taxpaying citizen’s Constitutional rights while operating within the law are trashed by PETA – just as certainly as those North Carolina body sacks were trashed.
However, the pets PETA representatives Hinkle and Cook slaughtered in the back of a PETA van in North Carolina are still dead. And instead of their deaths serving a purpose – such as furthering the knowledge of science to combat human diseases and pestilence world wide or possibly a chance at being loved by families that never got the chance to give them a home - their lives ultimately served no purpose other than for PETA to arbitrarily remove the burden of their care from inconveniencing representatives of PETA’s so-called mission, “… to protect animal rights” - at least in Northeastern North Carolina.
Testimony revealed they injected them with sodium barbitol – after packing them in the back of the confiscated van. (But then, these were just dumb animals – right? What more did they deserve?) After accepting the unfortunate trusting domestic animals from veterinarians, at least one of whom stated Hinkle and Cook reassured them would be delivered to no-kill centers, the convicted “litterbugs” admitted in court under oath that they then deliberately - and premeditatedly - killed their charges.
The Bible’s Acts 10: 9-13 documents Peter’s vision that occurred while he visited Simon the tanner in Joppa. He became hungry and asked his host for food. While praying, as the food was being prepared, he had a vision (The Good News Bible - King James Version):
“He saw Heaven opened and something coming down that looked like a large sheet being lowered by its four corners to the earth. In it were all kinds of animals, reptiles and wild birds. A voice said to him, “Get up Peter; kill and eat.”
“Peter replied, ‘Certainly not, Lord! I have never eaten anything ritually unclean or defiled.’”
“The Voice spoke to him again, ‘Do not consider anything unclean that God has declared clean.’”
Is the foundation of PETA also built on atheism?
I consider myself a “traditionalist.” Traditions ingrained since childhood are second nature at this stage in life. I was taught to hunt and fish in the ethical spirit of fair chase with the results gracing the table and, to take nothing from God’s pantry if the sacrifice of life was not destined to provide sustenance. Learned to raise gardens and fill the freezer and pantry with produce to accompany protein that woodland skills provided from wild game and fish.
Church is also deeply embedded in these accumulated traditional values. A value that seems compromised at PETA – at least within its leadership.
My grandmother, with great pride, made family aware her mother’s maiden surname was Standish - direct descendent of the Pilgrim’s military guardian Captain Myles Standish. Her parents and my grandfather’s parents accompanied the same wagon train originating in Weldon, Iowa to stake U.S. Government “timber claims” on the treeless Kansas prairie. After arrival, they helped plat the town of Plainville, Kansas eighteen miles north of Hays – the same Fort Hays’ railhead of historic Buffalo Bill fame. Their remains lie buried in a windswept cemetery on the outskirts of the town they helped establish. I was named for an uncle, Captain Clifford R. Keeler, U.S. Army, killed by a Jap sniper three days after his unit landed on Guam to liberate it. His remains are buried in Arlington.
Add to this genetic mix a nickel’s worth of Native American Shawnee blood that accompanied the family-tree in that wagon train from Weldon, Iowa to the future site of Plainville, Kansas. The family’s traditional foundation our fore-bearers blessed us with eventually wove the family’s roots, by now firmly grounded in this country’s history and patriotism, irrevocably into the cloth of the Flag waving over this country’s past, present and future. When that PETA ad attached itself to articles on “The Road Less Traveled” they insulted every sacrifice ever made by my forefathers and millions of their peers to guarantee Constitutional freedoms put in place to protect the public from such criminal acts of terrorism inflicted on the private sector.
PETA is a recruited global network of a well intentioned membership subsidizing an admitted rebel leadership that patronizingly preys on the uninformed sympathies of well-to-do and not so well-to-do people that ultimately subsidize PETA’s thinly disguised terrorist activities against tax-paying law-abiding peers worldwide. Many donating to PETA’s cause in the U.S. are “educated” veterinarians, lawyers, doctors, professionals, actors, ad-infinitum that allegedly, as well as demonstrably, do not comprehend the laws of nature applicable to the wilderness. Many also apparently don’t read either the Bible (aetheists?) or their own country’s Constitution very often – if ever.
What PETA condoned with the euthanization of those defenseless pets in North Carolina is similar to the hypocritical terrorism invoked by bigoted religious zealotry and radicalism spilling over from various radical sects raging out of control worldwide. One form of terrorism is but a small step to a more radical form, and a more radical one from that and so on. In the U.S., we have a Constitutional document sorting all that out for tax-paying citizens living within its boundaries. In the final analysis, “Love it or leave it. Or pay the consequences.”
Anyone or group demonstrating a problem with abiding by the Constitutional rights of all U.S. citizens, as that document guarantees by Federal Law, should be firmly dealt with under that law and, at the minimum, furnished one-way-tickets either to a Federal penal institution or to a country of their choice.
Besides demonstrating hypocrisy of a most revolting kind in the North Carolina “littering episode,” with PETA chairing the “Dr. Death” position as the “Dr. Kervorkian’s of the Animal World,” it is past time corporate and jurist America put a lid on PETA’s terrorist actions. Corporate and private America should/must question this organization’s hypocritical actions before continuing to fund it. The Federal legal system must once and for all shut down PETA’s criminal activities and similar law breaking activist institutions of every description that flagrantly flaunt Constitutional rights guaranteed all U.S. tax-paying citizens by that hallowed document established by the blood and sacrifice of millions of this nation’s finest.
Terrorism in any form is not remotely legitimate in this country. Our forefathers and our current generations sacrificed far too much to let that deranged beast in the door now – no matter what form, large or small, religious or Satanic, foreign or domestic. Terrorism in any form in this country assaults United States Constitutional Law and deserves nothing less than to be countered with zero-tolerance - at all levels.
